Slowly but surely, I’m getting this thing set up and ready to use. Yes, my blog is likely to stay this boring, basic design for some time. Once upon a time, I used to be good with html. You know, back in the days when html was primarily all you’d code in. I never had time to teach myself CSS, so that plus PHP are mostly over my head these days. I can eventually figure basics out in each, but overall I completely suck at it and just don’t have the time to devote myself to improving my knowledge of those coding languages.
If I had money to pay someone to design it for me, I would. But alas, I’m broke. I can’t afford the premade designs either – mostly because I admit to being an extremely picky bitch, and the ones in my price range look crappy to me. Even if I did have the money to pay someone to design it for me – it would still come back to me being an incredibly picky bitch. I’d most likely drive the kind coding soul insane, and they’d be begging me to take my money back and leave them alone. 😉 But hey – I have no problem being the first to admit that I would be a problem customer — at least I know I am, right? So, I’ll do without any fancy design, and instead play with widgets, and try figuring out which plugins are beneficial to me &/or the site.
It also doesn’t help in designing the site when I don’t exactly know what I want from it, either. I’m having difficulties deciding on a name for the blog, to help give it a feel and personality of it’s own. I’m sure that has a lot to do with the fact that I’m currently in the middle of a great big personal rediscovery and trying to figure out who I am. (What can I say, I’m a few years late on the whole quarter-life crisis thing.) I’m also phasing out my old online persona/moniker, so where I’m normally be attracted to things relating to it in terms of design, I’m trying to avoid them now, since it’s not “me” any longer.
